Village Evacuations in Zakynthos, Arta, Vonitsa Due to Fires

Fires are raging in Zakynthos, Vonitsa, Arta, and Preveza, with firefighters battling strong winds. 112 emergency number activated for area evacuations.

In Zakynthos, a large fire in agricultural and forest land between the villages of Lithakia, Agalas, and Koiliomenos led to the dispatch of a 112 message for the evacuation of residents. Strong firefighting forces and aerial means are operating. A Fire Investigation Unit (K.A.E.E) is investigating the causes.

In Vonitsa, the fire is burning in the Sotiras and Ai Lias areas. Residents of the Varko area were called to be on alert. 85 firefighters with 27 vehicles and aerial means are operating.

In Arta, a fire in a forest area in Ammotopos caused the mobilization of 22 firefighters. A 112 message was sent for evacuation towards Kampi.

In Preveza, a fire in a forest area in Gymnotopos is being tackled by 26 firefighters. A 112 message was sent for evacuation towards Kerasona.

High fire risk in many areas of the country.

The situation is improved in Kefalonia, Evinochori Aitoloakarnanias and Mandrotopo Thesprotias.
