A Condor aircraft, en route to Dusseldorf, experienced an engine explosion shortly after takeoff from Corfu on Saturday night. Videos posted on social media captured the engine explosions of the Boeing 757-300.

The aircraft, which was flying the Corfu-Dusseldorf route, eventually landed safely in Brindisi, Italy. The malfunction occurred at an altitude of approximately 1,500 feet.

The pilots followed safety protocols, shutting down the engine and activating the fire suppression systems. The aircraft recycled and headed to Brindisi.

An aircraft engine fire is considered a worrying scenario, but civil aviation has developed high levels of security. Aircraft are designed to fly with one engine, and pilots follow specific protocols in the event of a fire.
