Weakening Meltemia Winds, Storms Approaching This Weekend

The weather is expected to change over the weekend with rain and storms in many parts of the country. Locally, the phenomena will be intense. According to Sakis Arnaoutoglou, next week will bring summer heat again.

Klearchos Marousakis reports that a low barometric pressure from Italy will cause rain, storms, hail and intense lightning activity. At the same time, warmer air masses from North Africa will raise the temperature. The meltemia winds will be limited to the southeastern Aegean and will weaken.

On Thursday, wind gusts exceeded 100 km/h. According to meteo.gr, the strongest gust was recorded at Cape Paximada with 113 km/h.

Today: Good and warm weather throughout the country. Local showers in the mountains. Slightly increased dust in the atmosphere. In Attica, sunshine and north winds 4-5 Beaufort. In Thessaloniki, few clouds and winds 2-3 Beaufort.

Saturday: Generally clear weather. Rain and storms in the northern Ionian, Epirus and western Macedonia.

Sunday: Clouds with local rain and storms in the western and northern part of the country. Weather improvement from the afternoon.
