EPP: Support for Cyprus Issue Resolution Efforts

The European People's Party (EPP) expressed its support for efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue in a joint statement following the Summit. The EPP welcomes the appointment of Johannes Hahn as the EU Special Envoy for Cyprus and Maria Angela Holguín as the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General.

The EPP expects tangible steps from Turkey to resume negotiations and looks forward to the expanded meeting around the end of July. It also supports Cyprus' effort to join the Schengen area by 2026, calling on the European Commission to expedite the process.
