Winter's Return: Cold and Snow from Saturday
Share on:

A significant change in the weather is expected from Saturday, with the return of winter and snowfall at low altitudes, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) and meteorologists Klearchos Marousakis and Theodoris Kolydas.

Meteorologists predict a noticeable drop in temperature and snowfall even in semi-mountainous areas. Atmospheric circulations indicate a transfer of cold air masses to northeastern Europe, while the Mediterranean remains thermally active.

Klearchos Marousakis emphasizes that the weather is changing again from Saturday, with the cold becoming more intense and the snow falling low. Theodoris Kolydas points out that Europe is entering a purely winter trajectory.

The next few days will be accompanied by low temperatures and an increased probability of snowfall. The competent authorities recommend increased caution, especially in areas affected by frost and snow.

Today, temporary clouds are expected in the Ionian Islands, the Eastern Aegean, and Crete, with light local rain. In the rest of the country, few clouds will increase from the northeast, with rain in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and snow in the mountains.

On Saturday, in the eastern mainland, the islands of the northern Aegean, and Evia, increased clouds are expected with local rain or sleet and light snowfall in the mountains and semi-mountainous areas. The temperature will drop.

On Sunday and Monday, similar weather conditions will prevail, with a further drop in temperature and frost on the mainland.
