Fire Alert: Half of Greece on Yellow Alert on Sunday

A large part of the country will be at high risk of fire (risk category 3) tomorrow, Sunday, August 17, according to the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.
In particular, there will be a high risk of fire in Attica, Kythira, Viotia, Evia, Fthiotida, Fokida, Aitoloakarnania, Arta, Preveza, Magnesia, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Mount Athos, Kavala, Rodopi, Evros, Argolida, Corinthia, Laconia, Messinia, Ilia, Crete, Dodecanese, islands of the Northeastern Aegean, Sporades, Skyros, Thassos, Samothrace, Ionian Islands and areas in Achaia, Arcadia, Thesprotia, Larissa, Xanthi.
Due to the alert, the second stage of operational readiness of the fire brigade is being implemented. Aerial surveillance patrols will be carried out, as well as patrols by fire, police and military forces.
An appeal is made to citizens to be especially careful and avoid any activity that could cause a fire, and in case they notice a fire, to immediately notify the Fire Service at the call number 199.
