Ten photographs from a collection depicting the execution of 200 Greeks by German forces in 1944 have been put up for auction on eBay. The photographs are part of a collection by Belgian Tim de Kreen and were taken by German soldier Hoyer, whose role remains unclear.

The photographs are considered unique documents of modern Greek history and have aroused strong interest and emotion in Greek society. The Ministry of Culture has begun efforts to acquire them.

The auction of the photographs has also provoked political reactions, with various parties calling on the government to acquire them and make them available in publicly accessible archives.

Anna Panagiotarea comments on the political dispute that has erupted over the acquisition of the photographs.

The incident of the execution of the 200 Greeks occurred in retaliation for resistance actions, including the ELAS ambush in Molaoi, where Major General Franz Krech and other German officers were killed.
