France Threatens to Ban Shein Over 'Sexual Toys'

French authorities have warned the Chinese company Shein that they may ban its access to the French market if it attempts to resell dolls with the characteristics of a young girl presented as 'sexual toys'.
Shein withdrew the products after intervention by French regulators. Authorities are considering stricter measures, including a complete ban on Shein from the French market, should similar incidents recur.
Finance Minister Roland Lescure stated that they would exercise their legal right to block Shein from accessing the French market if the behavior is repeated.
Shein responded that the products in question were immediately withdrawn as soon as they became aware of the defects.
Shein is set to open a physical store in Paris and has faced criticism from French clothing companies for its low prices. It also plans to open five more stores in Galeries Lafayette shopping centers.
