France: 2026 Budget Approved by National Assembly

France is moving towards the adoption of the state budget for 2026, following the approval by the National Assembly of the section concerning state revenues. The vote received 176 votes in favor, 161 against, and 58 abstentions.
The stance of the Socialist Party played a decisive role, while the deputies of Marine Le Pen's «National Rally» and Jean-Luc Mélenchon's «France Unbowed» voted against.
On Wednesday, the deputies will discuss Prime Minister Lecornu's proposal to suspend the pension system reforms.
This development coincides with the return of President Emmanuel Macron to the domestic political scene. Today he chaired the cabinet meeting, while tomorrow he will meet with Mahmoud Abbas at the Élysée.
