France: Gérard Depardieu to Stand Trial in Paris for Rape

Actor Gérard Depardieu, 76, has been referred to the Paris Criminal Court for rape and sexual assault against actress Charlotte Arnould. The complaint was filed in 2018.
Charlotte Arnould expressed her relief at the decision. Depardieu has already been sentenced to an 18-month suspended prison sentence for sexual assault on two women during the filming of the movie 'Volets verts' in 2021, a conviction he has appealed.
Arnould's lawyer, Karine Durrieu-Diebolt, stated that the referral concerns sexual assault and rape with digital penetration on August 7 and 13, 2018, at the actor's residence in Paris.
Gérard Depardieu's lawyer has not commented on the decision.
