France: Hospitals Prepare for Potential War by 2026?

French hospitals have been asked to prepare for a potential 'large-scale conflict' by March 2026, according to internal Ministry of Health documents leaked to Le Canard Enchaîné newspaper.

The documents, dated July 18, 2025, describe a scenario where France could become a 'support base' receiving injured soldiers.

The Ministry of Health is considering creating medical centers near ports and airports for the transfer of casualties. Training of healthcare professionals on war-related issues, such as resource scarcity and the management of post-traumatic stress disorder, is also planned.

The Ministry of Health's Health Crisis Center recalls that its mission is to anticipate risks, such as epidemics, environmental hazards, and malicious acts. Catherine Bertrand, president of the French Society of Disaster Medicine, stated that these are projects they have been working on for years, anticipating scenarios such as the possibility of war, without necessarily involving an attack against France.
