According to newly released data, violent crimes committed by minors in Germany increased by 3.3% in 2025.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced that police recorded approximately 5.5 million cases in 2025, a 5.6% decrease compared to the previous year. However, experts point out that this decrease is partly due to the decriminalization of cannabis since April 2024.

Despite an overall decrease of 2.3% in violent crimes, those committed by minors showed an increase. Possible reasons include stress about the future and excessive use of the internet and social media.

Furthermore, rapes increased by 9%, with non-German suspects accounting for 38.5% of the cases. Cybercrime, particularly credit card fraud, is also on the rise.

The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) reports that the decreasing intensity of migration may have contributed to the reduction in the overall number of crimes.
