Germany: Landslides Possible Cause of Train Accident

Heavy rainfall and landslides are considered the likely cause of a train derailment in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, where three people died and 50 were injured.

According to police, two carriages derailed near Riedlingen and Biberach. The Minister of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg, Thomas Strobl, stated that the area was hit by severe storms, indicating a possible landslide.

A fire department spokesperson reported that 100 people were on board the train. Among the dead is an employee of Deutsche Bahn (DB), as clarified by Charlotte Ziller. Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed his condolences and requested support for the rescue operations.
