Messi's Ibiza Villa Faces Demolition Over Building Violations

Lionel Messi's £10 million villa in Ibiza is facing potential partial demolition due to building violations. Authorities are investigating allegations of illegal works at the luxury property, which was acquired in 2022.

According to the newspaper Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera, parts of the villa in the Cala Tarida area may be demolished, as they were allegedly built without the necessary permits. The 568 sq. m. mansion features a basement, auxiliary buildings, a swimming pool, a spa area, and a cinema.

The previous owner had requested the conversion of part of the garage into rooms, but the Municipality of Sant Josep did not approve the final building permit. Messi, through the real estate company Edificio Rostower, has begun contacts to resolve the issue.

The villa was also targeted last year by activists from the environmental movement Futuro Vegetal, who called it an "illegal construction".
