An incredible incident occurred in a village in India, where a one-year-old boy killed a cobra by biting it. Little Govinda bit the snake when it wrapped around his hand while he was playing outside his home in the town of Bettiah, near the India-Nepal border.

According to the child's grandmother, Govinda bit the snake instantly. After the bite, the child lost consciousness and was transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah. Doctors confirmed that the cobra died from head and mouth injuries.

The doctor in charge of the child's treatment stated that the venom affected Govinda, but not fatally, and that early treatment saved his life. The child's condition is stable and is being monitored.

India has approximately 300 species of snakes, with 60 of them being highly venomous and responsible for most deaths from snake bites. A 2020 study recorded over one million deaths from snake bites in India between 2000 and 2019.
