Indonesia: Crocodile Kills 53-Year-Old in River Attack

A 53-year-old man tragically died in Indonesia after being attacked by a crocodile. The reptile grabbed him by the leg while he was swimming with relatives in the Bulete River.
Eyewitnesses captured video footage showing the crocodile with the lifeless body of the 53-year-old Arifuddin in its jaws. Family and friends attempted to retrieve the body of the man, who was a father of four.
Local residents set a trap for the crocodile and managed to recover the body. Locals expressed shock, as the river is frequently used for swimming and washing clothes and was not considered a crocodile habitat.
Indonesia is home to 14 species of crocodiles. Experts believe that overfishing and the destruction of coastal areas have driven the animals inland in search of food.
