Italy: Six Deaths Due to Heatwave 'Camel'

Six people have died in Southern Italy since last Friday due to the heatwave named 'Camel'. The deaths involve beachgoers in the Salento area of Apulia, south of Bari.
Today, a 60-year-old man and an 81-year-old man died of cardiac arrest on the beach. In previous days, a 19-year-old Austrian tourist, two men aged 71 and 66, and a 60-year-old Italian woman also died of cardiac arrest.
Doctors attribute the deaths to high temperatures, which exceeded 43 degrees Celsius. The heatwave is expected to subside from Thursday night, but temperatures in some areas of southern Italy will remain higher than average.
A previous heatwave in Italy earlier this month resulted in the deaths of at least 16 people.
