Share on:

Six people have died in southern Italy due to the severe heatwave named 'Camel.' The deaths involve beachgoers in the Salento area of Apulia, south of Bari.

Since last Friday, six people have died, including a 60-year-old man and an 81-year-old who died of cardiac arrest on the beach. A 19-year-old Austrian tourist, two men aged 71 and 66, and a 60-year-old Italian woman also died of cardiac arrest.

Doctors attribute the deaths to high temperatures, exceeding 43 degrees Celsius. The heatwave is expected to subside from Thursday night, but in some areas of southern Italy, temperatures may remain higher than average.
