Italy: Skiers Experience Terrifying Avalanche in Courmayeur

Skiers experienced terrifying moments at the Courmayeur resort in Italy when an avalanche descended the slope. A video captured the dramatic moments.
Siobhan Halford from Essex, who was in the area with her family, recorded the incident. In the video, skiers can be heard shouting and children crying, while she tries to reassure her children by telling them to "calm down, take a breath."
Ms. Halford told the BBC that the avalanche initially seemed magical, but they soon realized the danger. "Suddenly, everyone realized it was going to hit us. And within seconds, it literally swallowed us all," she said.
She explained that there was no way to escape, as they were waiting in line for the cable car. "All we could do was listen to my dad say 'get down' because we didn't know what was coming towards us," she added.
According to Italia 24H Live, the avalanche danger level in the Aosta Valley Alps remains at 4 out of 5. Reports of snow detachments have also been reported in the Cogne and Gressoney areas.
