Weather: Unstable Conditions Persist Today - Over 5,000 Lightning Strikes Yesterday

Unstable weather will continue today with rain and local thunderstorms initially in the west and then in the rest of the mainland. Improvement is expected from the afternoon and from the west, while the temperature will rise slightly.
According to the records of the Lightning Imager of the Meteosat-12 meteorological satellite, 5,134 electrical discharges were recorded over Greece until 17:40 on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Significant rainfall was recorded mainly in Central and Northern Greece, with the highest rainfall in Kerassia Karditsa (41 mm).
Theodoros Kolydas mentioned that the instability will be limited and the mercury will start to rise from the weekend, mainly in the west and north. The action of the meltemi wind will be beneficial in the east and south.
