Colombia: Plane Crash – At Least 8 Dead, 83 Injured

At least 8 people were killed and 83 injured when a C-130 transport plane crashed in southern Colombia, near the border with Peru. The aircraft belonged to the Colombian armed forces and crashed shortly after taking off from Puerto Leguízamo.

According to the governor of Putumayo, 14 of the 83 injured are in critical condition. There were 125 people on board, including 114 passengers and 11 crew members.

Videos broadcast by Colombian television showed the burning wreckage of the plane in a wooded area, about 3 kilometers from a residential area.
