The extraordinary EU summit in Brussels, which examined transatlantic relations, has concluded. European leaders agreed to continue their cooperation with the United States, while setting limits against threats. The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, stressed that the EU will defend its interests and itself.

Antonio Costa emphasized that relations between partners should be based on respect. He also mentioned the common interest of the EU and the US in the security of the Arctic, through NATO. He noted that only Denmark and Greenland have the right to make decisions on issues that concern them, with the EU relying on the principles of international law.

Costa described the announcement of no new tariffs from the US on Europe as positive, while reiterating that the goal remains to stabilize trade relations. Ursula von der Leyen stated that a doubling of financial support to Greenland has been proposed in the next EU budget.
