Matt Brittin Appointed New BBC Director-General

Matt Brittin has been appointed as the new Director-General of the BBC, succeeding Tim Davie, who resigned in early November. Davie's resignation followed a controversial montage of a speech by US President Donald Trump broadcast on the Panorama program.
Brittin, 57, who worked for nearly two decades at Google, where he served as President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, stated: "This is a moment of real risk, but also real opportunity. The BBC needs the pace and energy to be where the issues are, and where the audience is."
Trump has filed a lawsuit against the BBC, seeking $10 billion in damages, accusing the station of defamation regarding its presentation of excerpts from his speech on January 6, 2021.
