Benin: One Dead, 44 Missing After Bus Plunges into River

At least one person is dead and 44 are missing after a bus plunged into the Ouémé River in central Benin, according to Interior Minister Alassane Seidou.
The bus, traveling from Lomé to Niamey, fell into the Ouémé River when the driver lost control and collided with a bridge safety barrier, the Minister said.
There were 54 people on board the bus. One person was found dead and 44 are missing, while nine survivors are being treated in stable condition at a hospital in Savè.
Authorities have launched an operation to recover the bus and locate the missing. STM, the company that owns the bus, expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
The accident occurred on a road connecting Cotonou to Malanville.
