Naples: Arrests for Camorra Fraud at Hospital

Italian police have arrested four people in Naples for the alleged infiltration of the Camorra into the 'San Giovanni Bosco' hospital. The detainees are accused of criminal activities on behalf of the Camorra, the Neapolitan mafia.
The charges include staging fake traffic accidents to collect insurance money and illegally transporting corpses in ambulances, pretending they were live patients. The investigation revealed an extensive network of criminal activities within the hospital, involving members of the Contini family.
The Camorra allegedly controlled the coffee bar services and vending machines at the hospital, exploiting the complicity of medical and paramedical staff. They also secured false medical certificates and facilitated illegal releases from prison.
For the transport of the dead, they charged families from 600 to 1,200 euros, bypassing the morgue and pretending that the corpses were live patients.
A doctor and a psychiatrist are accused of forging documents, while a lawyer is under investigation for collaborating with the mafia.
