New EU agreement on transparency between Commission and Parliament

Delegations from the European Commission and the European Parliament have reached a new framework agreement in Strasbourg, aimed at strengthening transparency and cooperation between the two institutions.
The agreement includes:
- Equal treatment of Parliament and Council.
- Timely and detailed information to the Parliament.
- Enhanced presence of Commissioners in Parliament meetings.
- Transparency in urgent decisions.
- Strengthening the role of Parliament in legislative amendments and international negotiations.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stressed the importance of cooperation for democracy. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, emphasized that the agreement strengthens the role of Parliament.
The agreement will be submitted for approval to the Conference of Presidents of the Parliament and then to the Plenary.
