The Risk Assessment Committee of the Civil Protection convened again due to heavy rains and storms expected from today, Tuesday, January 6th, until the early hours of Thursday, January 8th. The regions and municipalities of Western Greece, Epirus, and the Ionian Islands remain on 'Red Code' alert.

According to scientists, the rainfall will be of high intensity and duration, while local hailstorms and strong winds of up to 8 to 9 Beaufort may occur in many areas.

The National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management (E.S.K.E.D.I.K.) is in communication with the local authorities and involved agencies to address the weather phenomena. The Risk Assessment Committee will reconvene if deemed necessary.

Heavy rains and storms are expected in Epirus, the Northern Ionian Islands, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and Aetolia-Acarnania.
