Heathrow Faces New Flight Cancellations After Technical Issue

At least 16 flights to and from Heathrow Airport were cancelled on Thursday, following a technical issue in the UK's air traffic control system. The problem caused disruption at several airports.
Flights to Brussels and Toronto were cancelled, as well as flights arriving from New York and Berlin.
The UK's National Air Traffic Services (NATS) announced restrictions on flights due to the technical problem. Although the problem was resolved, traffic has not fully normalized. By 9:30 PM on Wednesday, 122 flights had been cancelled across the country.
Ryanair's operations director, Neil McMahon, called for the resignation of NATS' CEO, Martin Rolfe. EasyJet's operations director, David Morgan, also expressed his disappointment.
Transport Minister Heidi Alexander will meet with Martin Rolfe to examine the causes and prevention measures.
NATS has apologized for the inconvenience to passengers.
