Nigeria: 11 Killed, Dozens Abducted in Armed Attack

Gunmen killed 11 people and abducted more than 70 others, including women and children, in an attack on a village in northwestern Nigeria. Reuters news agency reported the residents' testimonies.
The gunmen, on motorcycles, stormed the Sabon Garin Damri community in Zamfara state on Saturday. Isa Sani said the gunmen were shooting indiscriminately and abducted children. Sufiyanu Ibrahim reported that they abducted his wife and shot him.
Residents of northwestern Nigeria have faced attacks by gangs for years. According to government data, security services released 175 kidnapping victims and arrested over 2,000 people in the northern and central parts of the country from April to July.
