Hungary: Controversy over Orbán Family's 'Luxury Castle'

A video showing the mansion of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's family has sparked controversy, garnering approximately 700,000 views on Facebook. The video was posted by independent MP Ákos Hadházy, known for his anti-corruption allegations.

Hadházy called the property a 'luxury castle', featuring gardens, a swimming pool, and a large dining area, contradicting claims by the Prime Minister's father, Győző Orbán, that it is a simple farm. Győző Orbán had stated that he bought Hatvanpuszta in 2011 for agricultural use.

The video sparked a wave of comments, with users accusing the Orbán family of wasting public money. The government reacted, with Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó accusing Hadházy of trespassing. Viktor Orbán denies owning the property, which is located near his birthplace, Felcsút.

The incident comes amid growing discontent over corruption in Hungary. The European Union has frozen €19 billion in funding due to suspicions of opaque procedures. The Orbán government rejects the accusations.
