Hungary: US Lifts Sanctions on Paks-2 Nuclear Plant

Washington has lifted sanctions on the Paks-2 nuclear plant in Hungary, as announced by the country's Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó. The sanctions had been imposed in November 2024 by the administration of Joe Biden.
Szijjártó stated that the production of essential equipment for the plant's expansion continues in Russia and France, and now the construction site in the city of Paks can develop. The Paks-2 project, built with Russian technology, is considered strategically important for Hungary's energy security.
