Hungary: Video of Orbán's Mansion Sparks Corruption Allegations
Share on:

A video showing a luxurious mansion, allegedly owned by the father of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has sparked outrage and corruption allegations. The video, secretly filmed by independent MP Ákos Hadházy, shows a mansion with gardens, a pool, and a large dining room.

Viktor Orbán denies owning the mansion, also known as the "golden castle," which is located near his hometown of Felcsút. His father, Győző, claims he bought the property in 2011 to create a farm.

The video has gone viral, garnering hundreds of thousands of views and comments, with many users accusing Orbán and his associates of using taxpayer money to build a palace. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó condemned the MP for illegally entering the property.

The case comes at a time when the EU has frozen funds to Hungary, amounting to 19 billion euros, due to concerns about corruption in public contracts.
