Istanbul University Revokes İmamoğlu's Master's Degree

Istanbul University has revoked the master's degree of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, citing failure to meet the requirement of "graduation from an undergraduate program" and "lack of prerequisites" for admission as a student.

According to Anadolu Agency, the university had previously revoked İmamoğlu's bachelor's degree due to "absence" and "obvious error." The decision to revoke the master's degree was made on July 24 by the Board of Directors of the Institute of Social Sciences of Istanbul University, based on a previous decision by the University's Board of Directors on March 18, 2025.

The revocation was based on the reasoning that the requirement of "undergraduate graduation" was not met.
