Paris Court to Review Sarkozy Release Request on November 10

The Paris Court of Appeal will review Nicolas Sarkozy's request for release on November 10. The former French president was sentenced to five years in prison on September 25 after being found guilty of illegally financing his 2007 election campaign with funds from the Muammar Gaddafi regime.

Sarkozy has been held in La Santé prison since October 21. His lawyers, Christophe Ingrain and Jean-Michel Darrois, argue that there is no legal reason to keep him in custody and have appealed the conviction.

The court's decision is expected on November 10. If the request is granted, Sarkozy could be released the same day or the following day.

According to reports, Sarkozy's arrival at the prison was accompanied by death threats from other inmates, who have now been transferred to other prisons.
