Peru: Major Port Closed for Six Hours After Container Spill

The port of Callao, the largest in Peru, was closed for six hours on Friday after approximately 50 containers fell from a ship flying the flag of Taiwan.
Port captain Amilcar Velasquez stated that the port's operation has been restored, with vessels patrolling the accident area. Reports attribute the incident to severe sea turbulence.
The ship Ever Lunar, carrying 7,000 containers from Panama, was near the port of Callao when the accident occurred. Velasquez assured that there is no hazardous cargo that could cause marine pollution.
