Princess Irene, Sister of Queen Sofia, Passes Away

Princess Irene, sister of Queen Sofia of Spain, passed away on Thursday, January 15th, at the age of 83. Her health had deteriorated in recent years.

She died at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid at 11:40 a.m., as announced by the Spanish Royal Palace.

Princess Irene had moved to the Zarzuela Palace in 1981 after the death of their mother, Queen Frederica. She was born in South Africa on May 11, 1942.
