Poland and EU Send Over 800 Generators to Ukraine

Poland and the EU are sending over 800 generators to Ukraine as Russia targets the country's energy system, leaving millions without power and heating in the midst of winter.
The Polish Ministry of Interior announced that, under the order of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, equipment is being sent to protect civilians, including 379 generators and 18 heating devices. In addition, 447 generators will be funded by the European Union, while Warsaw is donating an additional 90 generators directly to Kyiv.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the Commission, emphasized that the EU has allocated over €193 billion in the last four years and approved an additional €90 billion for the next two years. She also announced the dispatch of 447 emergency generators, worth €3.7 million, to ensure electricity supply to hospitals, shelters, and basic services.
Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have caused widespread power and heating outages, with nighttime temperatures in Kyiv dropping as low as 20 degrees Celsius below zero.
