Poland: Justice Minister Fined for Pedestrian Right-of-Way Violation

The Minister of Justice of Poland, Waldemar Żurek, has been fined 1,500 złoty (350 euros) for failing to yield to a pedestrian while driving and giving an interview. The incident was recorded on camera and posted online.

Krakow police confirmed that Waldemar Żurek accepted responsibility and will pay the fine. In addition, 15 points will be deducted from his driver's license.

Żurek, who also holds the position of Attorney General, stated that "no one is above the law." The incident occurred a few days before the announcement of stricter road safety measures in Poland.

In 2025, Poland recorded 1,651 road traffic deaths, a 13% decrease compared to the previous year.
