Civil Protection Issues Warning for Severe Weather

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued instructions to citizens in anticipation of worsening weather, with forecasts of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Authorities recommend increased caution and taking self-protection measures.
Specifically, the GSCP has informed the relevant services, regions, and municipalities to be on increased alert. The Fire Service is implementing the operational plan to deal with floods.
Instructions to citizens:
- Secure objects that may cause damage.
- Ensure gutters and downspouts are functioning properly.
- Avoid crossing streams on foot or by vehicle.
- Avoid outdoor work and activities in marine areas.
- Take shelter during hailstorms.
- Avoid passing under large trees and signs.
- Follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
During lightning:
- Do not hold electrical appliances or telephones.
- Avoid plumbing pipes.
- If in the car, immobilize it on the side of the road.
- If outdoors, take shelter in a building or sit on the ground.
According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected from November 4th to 5th, 2025, mainly in eastern mainland Greece and the northern Aegean.
