Greens lead in Baden-Württemberg elections

The Greens are leading in the Baden-Württemberg elections with 31.8%, while the CDU follows with 29.6%. The AfD doubled its percentage, reaching 17.7%.
Cem Özdemir, of the Greens, former federal leader of the party, is in the lead, while the SPD recorded a historically low percentage.
Winfried Kretschmann has governed the state since 2021 in cooperation with the CDU. If the results are confirmed, the Greens will receive 58 seats, the CDU 54, the AfD 32 and the SPD 10.
Lars Klingbeil of the SPD called the night 'bitter', while Alice Weidel of the AfD said she was satisfied with the increase in the party's strength.
