Roussopoulos Bids Farewell to PACE Presidency, Emphasizing Europe

Theodoros Roussopoulos concluded his two terms as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), receiving praise for his work.
In his farewell speech, Mr. Roussopoulos referred to his political career and emphasized that he approached the presidency as a political mandate to defend democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
He made special mention of the support for Ukraine, including initiatives to locate and return missing children, as well as addressing foreign interference in elections and artificial intelligence.
Mr. Roussopoulos stressed that the Parliamentary Assembly constitutes the 'political conscience of Europe,' and thanked the members for their trust.
In his speech, he referred to his first entry into the hemicycle in 1984 as a journalist, and his journey to the presidency of PACE. He also emphasized the importance of democracy and responsibility.
