At least 20 people have been killed and 134 injured in an explosion at an ammunition factory in the Ryazan region of Russia. Local emergency services announced that an investigation has been launched into non-compliance with safety regulations.

The explosion occurred at the Elastik factory, 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow, which produces explosives and ammunition. Authorities have declared a day of mourning in the region.

The Russian channel 112 on Telegram reported that the explosion was caused by the accidental detonation of a shell. Images show the factory walls destroyed. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has launched an investigation into violation of industrial safety rules. In 2021, an explosion at the same factory killed 17 people.

Additionally, a Russian attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine, resulted in the death of 7 people, including an infant and a 16-year-old boy. Russia launched 140 drones against Ukraine, and attacks were also reported in other areas.
