Russia: Bus-Train Collision – Two Dead, Ten Injured

Two people died and ten were injured in a collision between a tourist bus and a freight train in the Leningrad Region of Russia, according to the Oktyabrskaya Railway company.

Preliminary information indicates that the bus was crossing the railway line when it collided with the train. The accident occurred at 6:11 a.m. local time at the crossing point between the Lodeynoye Pole and Olonets stations.

The train driver applied the emergency brakes, but the distance was insufficient to avoid the collision.
