Russian drone attacks against energy facilities in northern and southern Ukraine have left approximately 60,000 consumers without electricity. The attacks took place overnight.

The country's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, promised to retaliate, announcing new, deep strikes after a meeting with the chief of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The port city of Chornomorsk, near Odesa, was hit hardest, with damage to residential and administrative buildings. The Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine was also targeted, destroying energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian army announced that Russia attacked with 142 drones, with air defenses shooting down 126 of them. Ten locations were hit.
