4.9 Magnitude Earthquake in Mount Athos – Felt in Thessaloniki, Sporades

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake occurred at 21:08 on Wednesday (25/3) in the Mount Athos area.

According to the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 11 kilometers west-northwest of Karyes, with a focal depth of 10.6 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt in Thessaloniki and the Sporades.

Two more seismic tremors, measuring 3 and 3.3 on the Richter scale, occurred at the same location within a minute of each other, at 21:20 and 21:21.
