The quake was recorded at 03:35 local time (02:35 Greek time), with an epicenter 56 kilometers north of Tokat and a focal depth of 35 kilometers, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Institute (EMSC).
The seismic tremor was felt in several cities in central Turkey. The epicenter was located 56 kilometers from Tokat (population 129,000) and 17 kilometers north-northeast of Erbaa (population 52,100).
Although there are no reports of damage or casualties, the earthquake caused concern among residents.
