Ahmed al-Ahmed, 43, hailed as a 'hero' for his intervention in the Sydney terror attack, is at risk of losing his left arm. The Australian citizen of Syrian descent was seriously injured when he tried to disarm the attacker, preventing potential further casualties.

According to his lawyer, Sam Issa, Ahmed took approximately five bullets to his left arm, with one lodged behind his shoulder blade. Doctors are fighting to save the limb, but the risk of amputation remains high.

Ahmed's father reported that his son, a former police officer, intervened when he saw the attacker firing indiscriminately. His actions have sparked widespread admiration, with a public fundraiser collecting over 1.9 million Australian dollars. A donation of 99,999 Australian dollars was made by Bill Ackman.

Ahmed was visited in the hospital by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, who expressed their gratitude for his heroic act.
