Former French Agent Arrested for Child Rapes in Africa

A former agent of the French foreign intelligence service has been arrested and charged with involvement in and organization of child rapes in Africa.

The 58-year-old man was arrested in Strasbourg and has been remanded in custody. The charges include "aggravated human trafficking," "rape and sexual assault on minors," and "importing and transmitting images of a minor of a pornographic nature using an electronic communications network," according to Le Parisien newspaper.

The suspect allegedly participated in child rapes in Kenya, where he frequently traveled for business. He allegedly paid for and orchestrated the sexual abuse of minors remotely and videotaped the rapes.

The videos were discovered online by an American foundation fighting crime against children. The foundation informed the French police and the Juvenile Protection Unit, which launched the investigation.
