EU Summit on Competitiveness Held in Alden Biesen

European Union leaders are meeting today at Alden Biesen Castle to discuss European competitiveness. The informal summit in Rijkhoven focuses on strengthening the production base, strategic autonomy, and resilience of the European economy.
President Christodoulides will participate in a meeting of European leaders before the start of the summit, at the initiative of Italy, Germany, and Belgium. This is the first meeting of its kind at the leaders' level.
The summit includes an exchange of views with the President of the European Parliament and special working sessions with former Italian Prime Ministers Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta, who will present proposals to enhance European competitiveness.
Government sources emphasized the importance of the discussion on competitiveness for the Republic of Cyprus, stressing the need for immediate and measurable results.
Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, highlighted the connection between competitiveness and European strategic autonomy in a discussion at the European Parliament.
