EU Military Committee Meeting: European Defence in Focus

The European Union Military Committee (EUMC) convened in Brussels on Thursday, November 20, with the Chiefs of Defence of the member states.
According to an announcement by GEETHA, on the sidelines of the Summit, the Chief of GEETHA, General Dimitrios Houpis, met with his French counterpart, General Fabien Mandon, on Wednesday, November 19. They discussed military strategic cooperation issues between Greece and France.
During the Summit, the Chiefs of Defence examined issues related to European defence, military capabilities, as well as current EU activities and initiatives.
EU foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, stated that the EU has a 'two-point plan' consisting of weakening Russia and supporting Ukraine.
Regarding peace efforts, Kallas stressed that for any plan to work, the involvement of Ukrainians and Europeans is needed. She also referred to an American plan proposing territorial concessions from Kyiv and a reduction in the army.
Furthermore, Kallas mentioned that the EU will work to impose more sanctions on ships of the shadow Russian fleet and those who facilitate them.
